Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. He was born on 16 April 1889 in Walworth, London, England. His father Charles Spencer Chaplin Sr. was an English music hall entertainer. He achieved considerable success in the 1890s. His mother Hannah Chaplin was an English actress, singer and dancer who performed in British music halls from the age of 16. Her stage name was Lily Harley. He had 3 Brothers – Sydney Chaplin, Wheeler Dryden & Spencer Dryden.

Chaplin married for the first time to actress Mildred Harris in September 1918. on 7 July 1919, She gave birth to a son. Norman Spencer Chaplin was born malformed and died three days later. The marriage ended in April 1920. Chaplin married for the second time to actress Lita Grey. The couple devorced in November 1926. Their first son, Charles Spencer Chaplin, Jr., was born on 5 May 1925, followed by Sydney Earl Chaplin on 30 March 1926.

Chaplin’s loneliness was relieved when he met 21-year-old actress Paulette Goddard in July 1932, and the pair began a relationship. Chaplin revealed that they married in Canton during a trip.

Chaplin married 4th time to 18-year-old Oona O’Neill, the daughter of American playwright Eugene O’Neill. The couple remained married until Chaplin’s death. The couple had eight children. Their sons was Michael John, Josephine Hannah, Eugene Anthony, and Christopher James. They had 4 daughters – Victoria, Geraldine Leigh, Annette Emily, & Jane Cecil. James Thierree, Shane Saura Chaplin, Julien Ronet, Orson Chaplin, Charlie Sistovaris, Osceola Salkind, Arthur Gardin & Kevin Chaplin are his Grandsons. Oona Chaplin, Kiera Chaplin, Carmen Chaplin, Aurelia Thierree, Dolores Chaplin, Susan Maree Chaplin & Laura Chaplin are his Granddaughters.

4 – Charlie Chaplin – “ The Count “ – A 1916 Movie Restoration

This is a full movie restoration of the 1916 Chaplin’s film, “The Count”. The movie was directed by Chaplin himself, starring also Edna Purviance and Eric Campbell. “The Count” was Chaplin’s fifth film for Mutual Film Corporation.

While the movie was released it received generally positive reviews, praising the story, speed and spontaneity, at least, by the Chicago Tribune.
