Butterflies and Moths have many things in common, including scales that cover their bodies and wings. These scales are actually modified hairs. Butterflies and moths belong to the order Lepidoptera (from the Greek lepis meaning scale and pteron meaning wing). One of the easiest ways to tell the difference between a butterfly and a moth is to look at the antennae. A butterfly’s antennae are club-shaped with a long shaft and a bulb at the end. A moth’s antennae are feathery or saw-edged. These illustrations below are remarkable Art works by Wildlife Artists created to help learn about them.

These are Arctic Hares. They look like snowballs.

Pamukkale, meaning “cotton castle” in Turkish, an amazing natural site in Denizli southwestern Turkey. The Turkish name refers to the surface of the shimmering, snow-white limestone, shaped over millennia by calcium-rich springs. According to local legends the formations are solidified cotton (the area’s principal crop) that giants left out to dry. Amazing world 🌎

“This fish [Congo Tiger Fish] is only found in the central part of the Congo river system, which is a place where nobody really goes from the outside world, so most people don’t know about it. It’s related to piranhas — it’s a giant piranha, really; they can grow to the size of a large person. The teeth on this one are an inch long, which is about the same size as the teeth on a 1,000-pound great white shark.”

Anjihai Grand Canyon, Xinjiang China 🇨🇳
The Anjihai Grand Canyon, also known as the Hongsha (Red Mountain) Grand Canyon, lies in the northern foothills of the Tiashan Mountains like a colorful ribbon.
It is a spectacular natural wonder composed of steep cliffs, irregular rocks and brightly colored stones.
The canyon is approximately 300 km long and up to 400 m deep.
For hundreds of thousands of years, rivers have flowed across the plain, forming this fascinating canyon.
The water washes and dissolves layers of earth, leaving colored traces on the surface.

The most precious thing in this world is the smile on the face of a child.❤️
